Tom Nordon is the programme manager for Music Technology, Music Practice and Foundation Degree in Music Technology and Production courses at NDC. In the 70Õs Tom toured and recorded with bands as a musician including the Edgar Broughton Band, Doll by Doll, Celebrated Artists Band, Paul Kennerley Band and others. He worked as studio and mobile engineer at Argonaut Studios in London, and with Tom Newman of Manor Studios, in both the recording studio and mobile recording unit.
During that time he recorded artists such as Neil Innes (The Ruttles), Mott the Hoople, Chris Jagger, Stevie Winwood, Chris White (Traffic) Dr John, Jade Warrior, Joe OÕDonnell, Kevin Ayers, Snowy White. He later moved into composing music and sound design for theatre. He composed an anti- apartheid musical set in South Africa called ÔThe TokoloshÕ which was staged at The Belgrade Theatre Coventry and also broadcast on Radio 3. Other musical soundtracks for the BBC include a production which won the Sony Award for radio drama production and he also composed the music for the Dreamwalk finale. He has written music for film shorts, jingles and theme parks. Other music for stage includes a project with The Olivier Family (had to teach a nervous Joan Plowright to sing a song), soundtracks and sound for many theatre productions and 10 years as Associate Musical director of Orchard Theatre.
Tom has also lectured at Coventry Centre for Performing Arts, and the Courtyard Theatre School Kings Cross. Tom is currently writing the soundtrack for a King Arthur attraction in Mid-Wales and performing as Silverfox at gigs locally. |
